We’re only a few days into the New Year, and in all honesty, those who were fit are still fit, and those who aren’t . . . . well . . . their motivation and hope are beginning the all-too-familiar downward spiral. If you understand intimately . . . I’m here to rescue you.
Consider this. As 2013 wrapped up, I asked 100 people whether they were born into Perfect Health. 94 of them said yes. If that’s representative of our population, for the sake of discussion, let’s assume 94% of us were born healthy. Our hearts pumped just the right amount of blood. Our brains instantly began forming neural connections. Our lungs took oxygen from the environment and sent it into our cells to initiate the process of metabolic energy production. Our immune systems ramped up to battle microbes and bacterial invaders. Our guts knew what to do with nutrients.
Sure, we needed nurturing early on, but the gift of Perfect Health was ours (continued below).
If we lived in a clean, sterile environment, if we continued to be nurtured, if we were fed foods that were grown or nourished in the presence of sunlight, if we consumed plants grown in mineral-dense soil, and if we challenged our skeletal, muscular, and cardiovascular systems with the ideal amount of resistance, I suspect Perfect Health would be sustainable.
Of the 100 people I spoke to (all during the intake process for my A.L.I.V.E. program), with ages ranging from 26 to 74, not a single one claimed Perfect Health in the moment. Not one! The real world is not supportive of Perfect Health, and in that, we have to recognize our power and our responsibility.
We have the power to rediscover health, even in the presence of toxins, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, and free radicals. We have the response-ability to offset the damage that seems inevitable when considering the onslaught of cellular dangers. I’ll take it a step farther.
I’ll go as far as to say, we have the ability to resist, even cure chronic dis-ease. Of course, in order to maximize our ability, we have to understand the challenge at hand.
Quite simply, the challenge is oxidation. I’ll give it another word, one you’re more familiar with. I’ll call it stress.
Stress drives biological aging. Stress drives inflammation. Inflammation drives disease. Type 2 diabetes, hypothyroidism, metabolic syndrome, abdominal adiposity, hypertension, and arthritis are not natural.
I can say the same for obesity (a chronic metabolic disease). Although near 70% of our adult population is overweight, I daresay this evolution is unnatural. We’ve accepted dis-ease as “normal,” only because abnormalities are so common. If one individual in a village developed a second nose, he’d be considered an anomaly, but if all the villagers grew two new nostrils as they neared 40 years old, the villagers would likely become accepting.
That’s a metaphor for what’s happened to your friends, your neighbors, and your family members.
They haven’t grown new noses, but, if they’re fat, sick, tired, or inflamed, it isn’t normal.
It’s just accepted.
Don’t be accepting of movement away from Perfect Health.
